Mikael Lypinski is a director, cinematographer and photographer.

 

Born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden.

Graduated from the Directing Department of The Polish National Film School in Lodz, Poland.

Mikael has made several documentaries and short films. Also an accomplished cinematographer, photographer and avid world traveller, his works often address themes of identity, displacement, isolation.

A trilogy of documentaries depict an unknown, unmanicured part of the USA:

Mikael is currently in post-production on The End of Quiet (2024), filmed in West Virginia, co-directed with Kasper Bisgaard and co-produced by Denmark and Sweden.

Unpaved, filmed in Oregon, is Mikael’s feature-length documentary debut, premiering at the Krakow Film Festival (May 2023).

Desert Coffee was made on a shoestring budget in the Californian desert. The film won the Grand Prix at the Man in Danger Film Festival in Poland (2018) and was acquired by Netflix (2022).
